17 By this, (A)love is perfected with us, so that we may have (B)confidence in (C)the day of judgment; because (D)as He is, we also are in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but (E)perfect love drives out fear, because fear [a]involves punishment, and the one who fears is not (F)perfected in love. 19 (G)We love, because He first loved us. 20 (H)If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he (I)hates his brother or sister, he is a (J)liar; for (K)the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, (L)cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And (M)this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God (N)must also love his brother and sister.

Overcoming the World

(O)Everyone who believes that Jesus is the [b]Christ has been (P)born of God, and everyone who loves the [c]Father (Q)loves the child born of Him. (R)By this we know that (S)we love the children of God, when we love God and [d]follow His commandments. For (T)this is the love of God, that we (U)keep His commandments; and (V)His commandments are not burdensome. For [e]whoever has been (W)born of God (X)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who (Y)believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
