15 Everyone who (A)hates his brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that (B)no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. 16 We know love by this, that (C)He laid down His life for us; and (D)we ought to lay down our lives for the (E)brothers and sisters. 17 But (F)whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and (G)closes his [a]heart [b]against him, (H)how does the love of God remain in him? 18 (I)Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and (J)truth.

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.(D) And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.(E) 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them,(F) how can the love of God be in that person?(G) 18 Dear children,(H) let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.(I)
