12 For what have I to do with judging (A)outsiders? (B)Is it not those inside the church[a] whom you are to judge? 13 God judges[b] those outside. (C)“Purge the evil person from among you.”

Lawsuits Against Believers

When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous (D)instead of the saints? Or do you not know that (E)the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, (F)why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? (G)I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. (H)Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even (I)your own brothers![c]

Or do you not know that the unrighteous[d] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: (J)neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[e] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And (K)such were some of you. But (L)you were washed, (M)you were sanctified, (N)you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Lawsuits Among Believers

If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people?(D) Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world?(E) And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church? I say this to shame you.(F) Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?(G) But instead, one brother(H) takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!(I)

The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?(J) Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.(K) Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?(L) Do not be deceived:(M) Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers(N) nor men who have sex with men[b](O) 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers(P) will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were.(Q) But you were washed,(R) you were sanctified,(S) you were justified(T) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
