55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”[a](A)

56 The sting of death is sin,(B) and the power of sin is the law.(C) 57 But thanks be to God!(D) He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.(E)

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,(F) because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.(G)

The Collection for the Lord’s People

16 Now about the collection(H) for the Lord’s people:(I) Do what I told the Galatian(J) churches to do. On the first day of every week,(K) each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.(L)

Footnotes

  1. 1 Corinthians 15:55 Hosea 13:14

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

16 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
