47 The first man was from the earth
and made of dust;(A)
the second man is[a] from heaven.
48 Like the man made of dust,
so are those who are made of dust;
like the heavenly man,
so are those who are heavenly.(B)
49 And just as we have borne
the image(C) of the man made of dust,
we will also bear
the image of the heavenly man.(D)

Victorious Resurrection

50 Brothers, I tell you this: Flesh(E) and blood(F) cannot inherit the kingdom of God, and corruption cannot inherit incorruption. 51 Listen! I am telling you a mystery:

We will not all fall asleep,
but we will all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the blink of an eye,
at the last trumpet.(G)
For the trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be raised incorruptible,
and we will be changed.
53 For this corruptible must be clothed(H)
with incorruptibility,(I)
and this mortal must be clothed
with immortality.
54 When this corruptible is clothed
with incorruptibility,
and this mortal is clothed
with immortality,
then the saying that is written will take place:
Death has been swallowed up(J) in victory.(K)[b]
55 Death, where is your victory?
Death, where is your sting?(L)[c]
56 Now the sting of death is sin,
and the power of sin(M) is the law.(N)
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory(O)
through our Lord Jesus Christ!

58 Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work,(P) knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

47 The first man was of the dust of the earth;(A) the second man is of heaven.(B) 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.(C) 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man,(D) so shall we[a] bear the image of the heavenly man.(E)

50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood(F) cannot inherit the kingdom of God,(G) nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.(H) 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery:(I) We will not all sleep,(J) but we will all be changed(K) 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound,(L) the dead(M) will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable(N) must clothe itself with the imperishable,(O) and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[b](P)

55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”[c](Q)

56 The sting of death is sin,(R) and the power of sin is the law.(S) 57 But thanks be to God!(T) He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.(U)

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,(V) because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.(W)
