25 И това са притчи Соломонови, които ги събраха човеците на иудейския цар Езекия.
2 (A)Слава за Бога е да облича всяко нещо в тайна, а слава за царете е да изследват работите.
3 (B)Както небето във висината и земята в дълбината, тъй и сърцето на царете е неизследимо.
4 Отдели примеса от среброто, и ще излезе съд за златаря;
5 (C)отдалечи неправедния от царя, и престолът му ще се укрепи с правда.
6 Не се големей пред лицето на царя и не заставай на мястото на големците;
7 (D)защото по-добре е кога ти кажат: „дойди тука по-нависоко“, отколкото кога те понижат пред велможата, когото са видели очите ти.
8 Не бързай да влизаш в тъжба: инак, какво ще правиш при свършека, кога твоят съперник те посрами?
9 (E)Съди се със съперника си, но чужди тайни не откривай,
10 за да те не укори оня, който чуе това, и тогава безчестието ти не ще отбегне от тебе. (Любов и дружба освобождават; заварди ги за себе си, за да не станеш достоен за похула; запази пътищата си добре уредени.)
11 Уместно казана дума е като златни ябълки в сребърни кошнички.
12 Мъдър изобличител за внимателно ухо е като златна обеца и украшение от чисто злато.
13 Каквото е прохлада от сняг по жетва, такова е верен пратеник за оногова, който го праща: той докарва утеха за душата на своя господар.
14 (F)Каквото са облаци и ветрове без дъжд, такова е човек, който се хвали с лъжливи подаръци.
15 (G)Велможа се с кротост умилостивява, и мек език кости троши.
16 (H)Намериш ли мед, яж само, колкото ти трябва, за да се не преситиш от него и да го не повърнеш.
17 Не ходи често в къщата на приятеля си, за да му не досадиш и да те не намрази.
18 (I)Каквото е чук, меч и остра стрела, такова е човек, който лъжесвидетелствува против ближния си.
19 Каквото е строшен зъб и разслабена нога, такова е надеждата на безнадежден (човек) в злочест ден.
20 Каквото е оня, който съблича дрехата си в студен ден, каквото е оцет на рана, такова е оня, който пее песни на едно натъжено сърце. (Както молец поврежда дрехата и червей – дървото, тъй скръбта поврежда човешкото сърце.)
21 Ако врагът ти е гладен, нахрани го с хляб; и ако е жаден, напой го с вода;
22 (J)защото, (правейки това) ти струпваш жар върху главата му, и Господ ще ти въздаде.
23 Северен вятър дъжд причинява, а таен език – недоволни лица.
24 (K)По-добре да живееш в ъгъл на покрива, отколкото със свадлива жена в широка къща.
25 (L)Каквото е студена вода за измъчена от жажда душа, такова е добра вест от далечна страна.
26 Каквото е размътен извор и развален кладенец, такова е праведник, който пада пред нечестивец.
27 (M)Както не е добре да се яде много мед, тъй и да ламтиш за слава не е слава.
28 Каквото е разрушен град, без стени, такова е човек, който не владее духа си.

25 Estos son otros dichos sabios de Salomón que fueron copiados por servidores de Ezequías, rey de Judá:
2 Dios tiene el derecho de ocultar algunas cosas
y el rey el de tratar de entenderlas.
3 La mente de los reyes es tan difícil de entender
como la altura de los cielos y la profundidad de la tierra.
4 Quita las impurezas de la plata
y el orfebre fabricará una copa;
5 quita de lado del rey al perverso
y su reino se fortalecerá con justicia.
6 No te des importancia frente al rey
ni te pongas en el lugar de los poderosos;
7 es mucho mejor que el rey tome la iniciativa de invitarte
que ser avergonzado frente a los demás.
8 No te apresures a entablar un juicio,
pues a la larga no sabrás qué hacer
si tu adversario demuestra que no tienes razón.
9 Arregla tus asuntos con tu vecino
y no reveles los secretos de otros;
10 si lo haces, serás avergonzado
y nunca te librarás de tu mala fama.
11 Decir la palabra adecuada en el momento preciso
es como manzana de oro servida en bandeja de plata.
12 La corrección del sabio tiene más valor
que un anillo de oro u otro adorno de oro fino.
13 Un mensajero digno de confianza es de mucho valor para el que lo envía;
como agua fresca en calurosos días de cosecha.
14 Los que prometen dar y nunca lo hacen
son como nubes y vientos que no traen lluvia.
15 Dialogar pacientemente con los gobernantes los hace cambiar su manera de pensar;
un diálogo amistoso tiene mucho poder.
16 Si encuentras miel, come lo necesario;
si comes demasiado la vomitarás.
17 De la misma forma, no vayas con mucha frecuencia a casa de tu vecino
porque se cansará de ti.
18 El que miente en un juicio es tan peligroso
como una espada o flecha aguda.
19 Confiar en un mentiroso en tiempos de dificultad
es como tener un diente quebrado o una pierna rota.
20 Cantarle canciones alegres al que está triste
es como quitarle la ropa cuando siente frío
o como mezclar lejía con vinagre.
21 Si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer;
si tiene sed, dale de beber;
22 pues así le calmarás el enojo[a]
y el SEÑOR te recompensará.
23 El viento que sopla del norte trae la lluvia;
el chisme trae la furia.
24 Es mejor vivir en un rincón de la azotea,
que en casa grande con mujer regañona.
25 Como la garganta reseca recibe el agua fresca,
así se reciben las buenas noticias que llegan de lugares lejanos.
26 Manantial turbio y pozo contaminado
es el justo que tiembla ante el perverso.
27 No es bueno comer mucha miel,
tampoco lo es buscarse honores.
28 Como ciudad sin murallas e indefensa
es el que no puede controlarse.

25 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.
23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Further Wise Sayings of Solomon
25 These(A) also are proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied:
2 (B)It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
3 As the heavens for height and the earth for depth,
So the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 (C)Take away the dross from silver,
And it will go to the silversmith for jewelry.
5 Take away the wicked from before the king,
And his throne will be established in (D)righteousness.
6 Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king,
And do not stand in the place of the great;
7 (E)For it is better that he say to you,
“Come up here,”
Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince,
Whom your eyes have seen.
8 (F)Do not go hastily to [a]court;
For what will you do in the end,
When your neighbor has put you to shame?
9 (G)Debate your case with your neighbor,
And do not disclose the secret to another;
10 Lest he who hears it expose your shame,
And [b]your reputation be ruined.
11 A word fitly (H)spoken is like apples of gold
In settings of silver.
12 Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold
Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.
13 (I)Like the cold of snow in time of harvest
Is a faithful messenger to those who send him,

And a gentle tongue breaks a bone.
16 Have you found honey?
Eat only as much as you need,
Lest you be filled with it and vomit.
17 Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house,
Lest he become weary of you and hate you.

Is like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble
Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint.
20 Like one who takes away a garment in cold weather,
And like vinegar on soda,
Is one who (N)sings songs to a heavy heart.
21 (O)If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
22 For so you will heap coals of fire on his head,
(P)And the Lord will reward you.
23 The north wind brings forth rain,
And (Q)a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
24 (R)It is better to dwell in a corner of a housetop,
Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.
25 As cold water to a weary soul,
So is (S)good news from a far country.
26 A righteous man who falters before the wicked
Is like a murky spring and a [c]polluted well.
27 It is not good to eat much honey;
So (T)to seek one’s own glory is not glory.
28 (U)Whoever has no rule over his own spirit
Is like a city broken down, without walls.
