18 My little children, (A)let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we [a]know (B)that we are of the truth, and shall [b]assure our hearts before Him. 20 (C)For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, (D)we have confidence toward God. 22 And (E)whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments (F)and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ (G)and love one another, as He gave [c]us commandment.

24 Now (H)he who keeps His commandments (I)abides in Him, and He in him. And (J)by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: 20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Dear friends,(C) if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God(D) 22 and receive from him anything we ask,(E) because we keep his commands(F) and do what pleases him.(G) 23 And this is his command: to believe(H) in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ,(I) and to love one another as he commanded us.(J) 24 The one who keeps God’s commands(K) lives in him,(L) and he in them.
