Jonah 3:7-9

New International Version

“By the decree of the king and his nobles:

Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.^{(A) 8} But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call^(B) urgently on God. Let them give up^(C) their evil ways^(D) and their violence.^{(E) 9} Who knows?^(F) God may yet relent^(G) and with compassion turn^(H) from his fierce anger^(I) so that we will not perish.”
