耶何耶大立约阿施为犹大王
23 第七年，耶何耶大发愤图强，召来一些百夫长与他们立约。他们是耶罗罕的儿子亚撒利雅，约哈难的儿子以实玛利，俄备得的儿子亚撒利雅，亚大雅的儿子玛西雅，以及细基利的儿子以利法。 2 他们走遍犹大各城，把利未人和以色列的各族长召集到耶路撒冷。 3 全体会众到上帝的殿中与王立约。耶何耶大对他们说：“王的儿子当做王！这是耶和华对大卫子孙的应许。 4 你们要这样做，三分之一在安息日值班的祭司和利未人要把守各门， 5 三分之一要把守王宫，三分之一要把守基址门，所有民众要留在耶和华殿的院子里。 6 只有祭司和供职的利未人可以进耶和华的殿，因为他们是圣洁的。其他人一律不准进殿。所有的人都要遵守耶和华的吩咐。 7 利未人要手持兵器护卫在王周围。凡擅自进殿的，一律处死。无论王去哪里，你们都要紧随左右。”
8 于是，利未人和所有犹大人遵照耶何耶大祭司的命令而行，各自带来在安息日值班和休班的属下，因为耶何耶大祭司没有让他们休班。 9 耶何耶大祭司把上帝殿中大卫王的矛枪和大小盾牌交给百夫长。 10 耶何耶大安排众民手持兵器，从殿右到殿左，在祭坛和殿周围护卫王， 11 然后他们领王子出来，给他戴上王冠，把律法书交给他。耶何耶大及其众子膏立王子为王。众人高呼：“愿王万岁！”
亚她利雅被处死
12 亚她利雅听到人们奔走称颂王的声音，便走进耶和华的殿，众人都聚集在那里。 13 她看见王站在门口的柱旁，百夫长和吹号的人侍立在王左右，众民都欢呼吹号，歌乐手用各种乐器带领众人唱歌颂扬，便撕裂衣服，喊道：“反了！反了！” 14 耶何耶大祭司认为不可在耶和华的殿里处死亚她利雅，便命令带兵的百夫长出来，对他们说：“把她带出去。要用刀杀死所有跟随她的人。” 15 他们抓住她，把她带到马匹进出王宫的入口，在那里杀了她。
耶何耶大的改革
16 耶何耶大让民众和王与他一起立约，要做耶和华的子民。 17 于是，民众出去拆毁了巴力庙，砸碎祭坛和偶像，在坛前杀了巴力的祭司玛坦。 18 耶何耶大照大卫的吩咐让利未祭司负责耶和华殿里的事务。大卫曾吩咐利未祭司在耶和华的殿中司职，照摩西的律法向耶和华献燔祭，欢呼歌唱。 19 耶何耶大还派门卫把守耶和华殿的各门，禁止一切不洁净的人入内。 20 他率领百夫长、贵族、首领和全体民众护送王从耶和华的殿里下来，经上门进入王宫，拥立王登上王位。 21 民众都欢喜快乐，城里安定，因为亚她利雅已死在刀下。

23 En el séptimo año, el sacerdote Joyadá se armó de valor e hizo un pacto con los siguientes comandantes: Azarías, hijo de Jeroán, Ismael, hijo de Johanán, Azarías, hijo de Obed, Maseías, hijo de Adaías, Elisafat, hijo de Zicrí. 2 Estos recorrieron todo el país convocando a los levitas de todos los pueblos de Judá y a los jefes de las familias de Israel, para que fueran a Jerusalén. 3 Allí toda la asamblea reunida en el Templo de Dios hizo un pacto con el rey.
Joyadá les dijo: «Aquí tienen al hijo del rey. Él es quien debe reinar, tal como lo prometió el Señor a los descendientes de David. 4 Así que hagan lo siguiente: una tercera parte de ustedes, los sacerdotes y levitas que están de servicio el sábado, hará la guardia en las puertas; 5 otra tercera parte permanecerá en el palacio real y la tercera parte restante ocupará la puerta de los Cimientos, mientras que todo el pueblo estará en los atrios del Templo del Señor. 6 Solo los sacerdotes y levitas que estén de servicio entrarán en el Templo del Señor, pues ellos están consagrados; nadie más podrá entrar. El pueblo deberá cumplir la orden del Señor. 7 Arma en mano, los levitas rodearán por completo al rey; y si alguien se atreve a entrar al Templo, mátenlo. ¡No dejen solo al rey, vaya donde vaya!».
8 Los levitas y todos los habitantes de Judá cumplieron con todo lo que el sacerdote Joyadá había ordenado. Cada uno reunió a sus hombres, tanto a los que estaban de servicio el sábado como a los que estaban libres, pues el sacerdote Joyadá no eximió a ninguno de los turnos. 9 Este repartió entre los comandantes las lanzas y los escudos grandes y pequeños del rey David, que estaban guardados en el Templo de Dios, 10 y luego colocó en sus puestos a todos. Cada uno, arma en mano, alrededor del rey, cerca del altar y desde el lado sur hasta el lado norte del Templo.
11 Luego sacaron al hijo del rey, le pusieron la corona, le entregaron una copia del pacto[a] y lo proclamaron rey. Joyadá y sus hijos lo ungieron y gritaron: «¡Viva el rey!».
12 Cuando Atalía oyó la gritería del pueblo que corría y aclamaba al rey, fue al Templo del Señor, donde estaba la gente. 13 Al ver que el rey estaba de pie junto a la columna de la entrada y que los oficiales y músicos estaban a su lado, y que todo el pueblo se alegraba al son de las trompetas y los cantores que acompañados de instrumentos musicales dirigían la alabanza, Atalía se rasgó las vestiduras y gritó: «¡Traición! ¡Traición!».
14 Entonces el sacerdote Joyadá, como no quería que la mataran en el Templo del Señor, hizo que salieran los comandantes que estaban al mando de las fuerzas y ordenó: «¡Sáquenla de entre las filas! Y si alguien se pone de su lado, ¡mátenlo a filo de espada!». 15 Así que la apresaron y la llevaron al palacio por la puerta de la caballería; allí la mataron.
16 Luego Joyadá hizo un pacto con toda la gente y con el rey, para que fueran el pueblo del Señor. 17 Entonces toda la gente fue al templo de Baal y lo derribó. Destruyeron los altares y las imágenes, y frente a los altares degollaron a Matán, sacerdote de Baal.
18 Después Joyadá apostó guardias en el Templo del Señor, bajo las órdenes de los sacerdotes y levitas. A estos David les había asignado sus turnos para que ofrecieran al Señor los holocaustos, como está escrito en la Ley de Moisés, y para que cantaran con gozo, como lo había ordenado David. 19 También colocó porteros en la entrada del Templo del Señor, para que le impidieran el paso a todo el que estuviera impuro.
20 Acto seguido, Joyadá, acompañado de los comandantes, los nobles, los gobernadores y todo el pueblo, llevó al rey desde el Templo del Señor hasta el palacio real, pasando por la puerta superior y sentó a Joás en el trono real. 21 Todo el pueblo estaba alegre y la ciudad, tranquila, pues habían matado a Atalía a filo de espada.

23 And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.
2 And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
3 And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the Lord hath said of the sons of David.
4 This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors;
5 And a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord.
6 But let none come into the house of the Lord, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord.
7 And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.
8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
9 Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God.
10 And he set all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king round about.
11 Then they brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.
12 Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the Lord:
13 And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.
14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the Lord.
15 So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king's house, they slew her there.
16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the Lord's people.
17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
18 Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the Lord by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.
19 And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the Lord, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.
20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the Lord: and they came through the high gate into the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
21 And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.

3 Then all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, “Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the Lord has (F)said of the sons of David. 4 This is what you shall do: One-third of you (G)entering on the Sabbath, of the priests and the Levites, shall be keeping watch over the doors; 5 one-third shall be at the king’s house; and one-third at the Gate of the Foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord. 6 But let no one come into the house of the Lord except the priests and (H)those of the Levites who serve. They may go in, for they are holy; but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord. 7 And the Levites shall surround the king on all sides, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes into the house, let him be put to death. You are to be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.”
8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each man took his men who were to be on duty on the Sabbath, with those who were going off duty on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed (I)the divisions. 9 And Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and the large and small (J)shields which had belonged to King David, that were in the temple of God. 10 Then he set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and by the temple, all around the king. 11 And they brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, (K)gave him the [a]Testimony, and made him king. Then Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, “Long live the king!”
Death of Athaliah(L)
12 Now when (M)Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people in the temple of the Lord. 13 When she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance; and the leaders and the trumpeters were by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, also the singers with musical instruments, and (N)those who led in praise. So Athaliah tore her clothes and said, (O)“Treason! Treason!”
14 And Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Take her outside under guard, and slay with the sword whoever follows her.” For the priest had said, “Do not kill her in the house of the Lord.”
15 So they seized her; and she went by way of the entrance (P)of the Horse Gate into the king’s house, and they killed her there.
16 Then Jehoiada made a (Q)covenant between himself, the people, and the king, that they should be the Lord’s people. 17 And all the people went to the [b]temple of Baal, and tore it down. They broke in pieces its altars and images, and (R)killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. 18 Also Jehoiada appointed the oversight of the house of the Lord to the hand of the priests, the Levites, whom David had (S)assigned in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the (T)Law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was established by David. 19 And he set the (U)gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the Lord, so that no one who was in any way unclean should enter.
20 (V)Then he took the captains of hundreds, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought the king down from the house of the Lord; and they went through the Upper Gate to the king’s house, and set the king on the throne of the kingdom. 21 So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, for they had slain Athaliah with the sword.
