Our Enemy sees our potential long before we ever do. He starts when we\u2019re young and not only targets our gifting and future calling, but he also goes after those tender places of vulnerability. All you need to do is look back into your childhood, and you\u2019ll likely find a pattern of losses and hurts that conflict with God\u2019s message of hope and redemption for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How and Why the Enemy Lies to Us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A friend once reflected, \u201cOur Enemy starts when we\u2019re young and conditions us to believe his lies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why does he do that? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we\u2019re conditioned to believe lies, he can steal from us without us ever even realizing it. If you think you\u2019re an outsider, you\u2019ll assume God doesn\u2019t have a community for you, and you won\u2019t contend for it. If you believe you\u2019re a reject, you\u2019ll allow the Enemy to use every hardship and setback to confirm that you\u2019re unacceptable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those trials are meant to train you to be strong in battle and secure in your identity. If you believe you\u2019re only a victim of your circumstances, you\u2019ll never dare to imagine and fight for your victory. The truth is, no demon in hell can keep you from all God has for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you believe God is the one who made you ill or caused you pain, you\u2019ll feel conflicted about contending for your healing and restoration. If you don\u2019t know all Jesus won for you, how will you know when it\u2019s stolen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In every way, the Enemy takes God\u2019s ideas and counterfeits them. He has a history of conditioning us to believe his lies. Thankfully, God has a history of continually setting us free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus is Patient \u2014 But Wants Us to Grow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” \u2014 Psalm 34:19<\/a> (NLT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beautiful thing about Jesus is that He\u2019s not impatient with us. He knows how perpetually we fall into the Enemy\u2019s traps and how quickly we believe his lies. But He does intend for us to mature and grow. There are things He wants us to know\u2014some of which we\u2019re not ready for until we\u2019ve won some victories and have gained new ground. Because our healing most often comes in layers, so does our knowledge of and capacity for the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time you decide to hold fast to God\u2019s truth in the face of contrary circumstances, you grow in knowledge of God and His ways. Every time you rehearse the truth about who you are because of who God is, you reinforce the truth in your innermost being, which is a good thing because that\u2019s where most lies go to hide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part [of my heart] You will make me know wisdom.” \u2014 Psalm 51:6<\/a> (AMP)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God is so good. He intends for you to gain wisdom, authority, and credibility where you\u2019ve experienced loss, heartbreak, and messages that distort His love. Train yourself in the truth that sets you free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Picture yourself tightening that belt of truth around your waist (Ephesians 6:14<\/a>). It holds the rest of the armor in place. Imagine yourself walking through the ashes of your pain with your head high, your shoulders back, and your heart warmed by the fact that you belong to God\u2014the Redeemer of your story. These things are possible with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
