10:18 The form of this verse differs from the parallel of opposites (antithetic parallelism) found in much of this chapter. Again the subject is foolish speech (lying or slander), and the one who engages in such action is either malicious or foolish (v. 14 note). Such foolishness is not lightly regarded, because this folly is actually sin (Ex. 20:16).
