⁴ You are more glorious and excellent
^(B)Than the mountains of prey.
^5 (C)The stouthearted were plundered;
^(D)They ^[c]have sunk into their sleep;
And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.
^6 (E)At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both the chariot and horse were cast into a dead sleep.

⁷ You, Yourself, are to be feared;
And ^(F)who may stand in Your presence
When once You are angry?
^8 (G)You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;
^(H)The earth feared and was still,
⁹ When God ^(I)arose to judgment,
To deliver all the oppressed of the earth. Selah

^10 (J)Surely the wrath of man shall praise You;
With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.

^11 (K)Make vows to the Lord your God, and pay them;
^(L)Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.
¹² He shall cut off the spirit of princes;
^(M)He is awesome to the kings of the earth.

⁵ They do not know, nor do they understand;
They walk about in darkness;
All the ^(E)foundations of the earth are ^[d]unstable.

⁶ I said, ^(F)“You are ^[e]gods,
And all of you are children of the Most High.
⁷ But you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the princes.”

⁸ Arise, O God, judge the earth;
^(G)For You shall inherit all nations.

³ Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
⁴ Blessed are those who dwell in Your ^(D)house;
They will still be praising You. Selah

⁵ Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
⁶ As they pass through the Valley ^(E)of ^[c]Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with ^[d]pools.
⁷ They go ^(F)from strength to strength;
^[e]Each one ^(G)appears before God in Zion.

⁸ O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
^9 (H)O God, behold our shield,
And look upon the face of Your ^[f]anointed.

¹⁰ For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather ^[g]be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
¹¹ For the Lord God is ^(I)a sun and ^(J)shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
^(K)No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

¹² O Lord of hosts,
^(L)Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

³ You turn man to destruction,
And say, ^(D)“Return, O children of men.”
^4 (E)For a thousand years in Your sight
Are like yesterday when it is past,
And like a watch in the night.
⁵ You carry them away like a flood;
^(F)They are like a sleep.
In the morning ^(G)they are like grass which grows up:
⁶ In the morning it flourishes and grows up;
In the evening it is cut down and withers.

⁷ For we have been consumed by Your anger,
And by Your wrath we are terrified.
^8 (H)You have set our iniquities before You,
Our ^(I)secret sins in the light of Your countenance.
⁹ For all our days have passed away in Your wrath;
We finish our years like a sigh.
¹⁰ The days of our lives are seventy years;
And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,
Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow;
For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
¹¹ Who knows the power of Your anger?
For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.
^12 (J)So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

¹³ Return, O Lord!
How long?
And ^(K)have compassion on Your servants.
¹⁴ Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy,
^(L)That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
¹⁵ Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us,
The years in which we have seen evil.
¹⁶ Let ^(M)Your work appear to Your servants,
And Your glory to their children.
^17 (N)And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
And ^(O)establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.

^5 (D)O Lord, how great are Your works!
^(E)Your thoughts are very deep.
^6 (F)A senseless man does not know,
Nor does a fool understand this.
⁷ When ^(G)the wicked ^[a]spring up like grass,
And when all the workers of iniquity flourish,
It is that they may be destroyed forever.

^8 (H)But You, Lord, are on high forevermore.
⁹ For behold, Your enemies, O Lord,
For behold, Your enemies shall perish;
All the workers of iniquity shall ^(I)be scattered.

¹⁰ But ^(J)my ^[b]horn You have exalted like a wild ox;
I have been ^(K)anointed with fresh oil.
^11 (L)My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies;
My ears hear my desire on the wicked
Who rise up against me.

^12 (M)The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
¹³ Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
¹⁴ They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be ^[c]fresh and ^[d]flourishing,
¹⁵ To declare that the Lord is upright;
^(N)He is my rock, and ^(O)there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who ^(A)delights greatly in His commandments.

^2 (B)His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
^3 (C)Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness ^[b]endures forever.
^4 (D)Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
^5 (E)A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs ^(F)with discretion.
⁶ Surely he will never be shaken;
^(G)The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
^7 (H)He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
⁸ His ^(I)heart is established;
^(J)He will not be afraid,
Until he ^(K)sees his desire upon his enemies.

⁹ He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His ^[c]horn will be exalted with honor.
¹⁰ The wicked will see it and be grieved;
He will gnash his teeth and melt away;
The desire of the wicked shall perish.

^3 (C)But our God is in heaven;
He does whatever He pleases.
^4 (D)Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
⁵ They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
⁶ They have ears, but they do not hear;
Noses they have, but they do not smell;
⁷ They have hands, but they do not handle;
Feet they have, but they do not walk;
Nor do they mutter through their throat.
^8 (E)Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.

^9 (F)O Israel, trust in the Lord;
^(G)He is their help and their shield.
¹⁰ O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
¹¹ You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.

¹² The Lord ^[b]has been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
^13 (H)He will bless those who fear the Lord,
Both small and great.

¹⁴ May the Lord give you increase more and more,
You and your children.
¹⁵ May you be ^(I)blessed by the Lord,
^(J)Who made heaven and earth.

¹⁶ The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s;
But the earth He has given to the children of men.
^17 (K)The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor any who go down into silence.
^18 (L)But we will bless the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore.
