⁷ The Lord is ^(A)good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble,
And ^(B)He knows those who take refuge in Him.
⁸ But with an ^(C)overflowing flood
He will make a complete end of ^[a]its site,
And will pursue His enemies into ^(D)darkness.

⁵ “Behold, ^(A)I am against you,” declares the Lord of armies;
“And I will ^[a](B)lift up your skirts over your face,
And ^(C)show the nations your nakedness,
And the kingdoms your shame.
⁶ I will ^(D)throw filth on you
And ^(E)declare you worthless,
And set you up as a ^(F)spectacle.
⁷ And it will come about that all who see you
Will ^[b]shrink from you and say,
‘Nineveh is devastated!
^(G)Who will have sympathy for her?’
Where shall I seek comforters for you?”
