⁴⁰ At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one,^(A) he healed them.^(B)

²³ He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on^(A) her so that she will be healed and live.”

³² That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.^{(A) 33} The whole town gathered at the door, ³⁴ and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.^(B) He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.^(C)

¹⁶ When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.^{(A) 17} This was to fulfill^(B) what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

¹² so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured^(A) and the evil spirits left them.

¹⁵ As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.^(A)

²¹ At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses^(A) and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. ²² So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy^[a] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.^{(B) 23} Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

⁵⁵ They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. ⁵⁶ And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,^(A) and all who touched it were healed.

⁵ He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on^(A) a few sick people and heal them.

¹⁰ For he had healed many,^(A) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.^(B)
