²⁹ Abraham said to him, ^(A)‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’

²¹ For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, ^(A)being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

²⁷ And beginning at ^(A)Moses and ^(B)all the Prophets, He ^[a]expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

^16 (A)“The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

^19 [a]And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a ^(A)light that shines in a dark place, ^(B)until ^(C)the day dawns and the morning star rises in your ^(D)hearts; ²⁰ knowing this first, that ^(E)no prophecy of Scripture is of any private ^[b]interpretation, ²¹ for ^(F)prophecy never came by the will of man, ^(G)but ^[c]holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known ^(A)the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

^16 (B)All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, ^(C)and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for ^[a]instruction in righteousness, ^17 (D)that the man of God may be complete, ^(E)thoroughly equipped for every good work.

¹¹ These were more ^[a]fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and ^(A)searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. ¹² Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.

^39 (A)You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and ^(B)these are they which testify of Me. ^40 (C)But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

^41 (D)“I do not receive honor from men. ⁴² But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. ⁴³ I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. ^44 (E)How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek ^(F)the honor that comes from the only God? ⁴⁵ Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; ^(G)there is one who accuses you—Moses, in whom you trust. ⁴⁶ For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; ^(H)for he wrote about Me. ⁴⁷ But if you ^(I)do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
