Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but (A)if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has (B)come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: (C)of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 (D)of righteousness, (E)because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 (F)of judgment, because (G)the ruler of this world is judged.

12 “I still have many things to say to you, (H)but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, (I)the Spirit of truth, has come, (J)He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate(A) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.(B) When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin,(C) because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness,(D) because I am going to the Father,(E) where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world(F) now stands condemned.

12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.(G) 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth,(H) comes, he will guide you into all the truth.(I) He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
