²⁷ My sheep ^(A)listen to My voice, and ^(B)I know them, and they follow Me; ²⁸ and I give them ^(C)eternal life, and they will never perish; and ^(D)no one will snatch them out of My hand. ^29 [a]My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. ^30 (E)I and the Father are ^[b]one.”

³¹ The Jews ^(F)picked up stones again to stone Him. ³² Jesus replied to them, “I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?” ³³ The Jews answered Him, “We are not stoning You for a good work, but for ^(G)blasphemy; and because You, being a man, ^(H)make Yourself out to be God.”

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, “This is ^(A)the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He ^(B)has sent.” ³⁰ So they said to Him, “^(C)What then are You doing as a ^(D)sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work are You performing? ^31 (E)Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘^(F)He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’” ³² Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is ^[a]that which ^(G)comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.” ³⁴ Then they said to Him, “Lord, always ^(H)give us this bread.”

³⁵ Jesus said to them, “^(I)I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me ^(J)will never be thirsty. ³⁶ But ^(K)I said to you that you have indeed seen Me, and yet you do not believe. ^37 (L)Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I certainly will not cast out. ³⁸ For ^(M)I have come down from heaven, ^(N)not to do My own will, but ^(O)the will of Him who ^(P)sent Me. ³⁹ And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of ^(Q)everything that He has given Me I will ^(R)lose nothing, but will ^(S)raise it up on the last day. ⁴⁰ For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who ^(T)sees the Son and ^(U)believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will ^(V)raise him up on the last day.”

Words to the Jews

^41 (W)So then the Jews were complaining about Him because He said, “I am the bread that ^(X)came down out of heaven.” ⁴² And they were saying, “^(Y)Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother ^(Z)we know? How does He now say, ‘^(AA)I have come down out of heaven’?” ⁴³ Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop complaining among yourselves. ⁴⁴ No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me ^(AB)draws him; and I will ^(AC)raise him up on the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written ^(AD)in the Prophets: ‘^(AE)And they shall all be ^(AF)taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. ^46 (AG)Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. ⁴⁷ Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes ^(AH)has eternal life. ^48 (AI)I am the bread of life. ^49 (AJ)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. ⁵⁰ This is the bread that ^(AK)comes down out of heaven, so that anyone may eat from it and ^(AL)not die.

¹² If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? ^13 (A)No one has ascended into heaven, except ^(B)He who descended from heaven: ^(C)the Son of Man. ¹⁴ And just as ^(D)Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must ^(E)the Son of Man ^(F)be lifted up, ¹⁵ so that everyone who ^[a]believes will ^(G)have eternal life in Him.

¹⁶ “For God so ^(H)loved the world, that He ^(I)gave His ^(J)only Son, so that everyone who ^(K)believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God ^(L)did not send the Son into the world ^(M)to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. ^18 (N)The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of ^(O)the only Son of God.
