The Word Became Flesh

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and ^(C)the Word was with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God.

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh and ^(C)dwelt among us, ^(D)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth.

⁴ But ^(A)when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, ^(B)born ^(C)of woman, born ^(D)under the law,

^5 (A)Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,^{[a] 6 (B)}who, though he was in ^(C)the form of God, did not count equality with God ^(D)a thing to be grasped,^{[b] 7} but ^(E)emptied himself, by taking the form of a ^(F)servant,^{[c] (G)}being born in the likeness of men.

⁹ For ^(A)in him the whole fullness of deity dwells ^(B)bodily,

¹⁶ Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:

⁹ But we see him ^(A)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, ^(B)crowned with glory and honor ^(C)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might ^(D)taste death ^(E)for everyone.

¹⁴ Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise ^(A)partook of the same things, that ^(B)through death he might ^(C)destroy ^(D)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

¹⁷ Therefore he had ^(A)to be made like his brothers in every respect, ^(B)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest ^(C)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
