¹¹ I am afraid ^(A)I may have labored over you in vain.

⁵ For this reason, ^(A)when I could bear it no longer, ^(B)I sent to learn about your faith, ^(C)for fear that somehow ^(D)the tempter had tempted you and ^(E)our labor would be in vain.

² I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those ^(A)who seemed influential) the gospel that ^(B)I proclaim among the Gentiles, ^(C)in order to make sure I was not running or had not ^(D)run in vain.

⁸ Watch yourselves, ^(A)so that you may not lose what we^[a] have worked for, but ^(B)may win a full reward.

¹⁶ holding fast to ^(A)the word of life, so that in ^(B)the day of Christ ^(C)I may be proud that ^(D)I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

² Look: I, Paul, say to you that ^(A)if you accept circumcision, ^(B)Christ will be of no advantage to you. ³ I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that ^(C)he is obligated to keep the whole law. ⁴ You are ^(D)severed from Christ, ^(E)you who would be justified^[a] by the law; ^(F)you have fallen away from grace.

²⁰ I wish I could be present with you now and change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.

²⁰ For I fear that perhaps ^(A)when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish—that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder. ²¹ I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those ^(B)who sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, ^(C)sexual immorality, and sensuality that they have practiced.

² For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since ^(A)I betrothed you to one husband, ^(B)to present you ^(C)as a pure virgin to Christ. ³ But I am afraid that ^(D)as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts ^(E)will be led astray from a ^(F)sincere and ^(G)pure devotion to Christ.
