The Command to Leave Sinai

33 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Depart and go up from here, you ^(A)and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ^(B)‘To your descendants I will give it.’

^7 (A)Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, ^(B)“To your ^[a]descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an ^(C)altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You ^(A)swore by Your own self, and said to them, ^(B)‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”

⁷ And the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt ^(B)have corrupted themselves.

^3 (A)Dwell in this land, and ^(B)I will be with you and ^(C)bless you; for to you and your descendants ^(D)I give all these lands, and I will perform ^(E)the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

³⁴ Now therefore, go, lead the people to the place of which I have ^(A)spoken to you. ^(B)Behold, My Angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, ^(C)in the day when I ^(D)visit for punishment, I will visit punishment upon them for their sin.”

32 Now when the people saw that Moses ^(B)delayed coming down from the mountain, the people ^(C)gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, ^(D)“Come, make us ^[a]gods that shall ^(E)go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who ^(F)brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

³ And the people thirsted there for water, and the people ^(A)complained against Moses, and said, “Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our ^(B)livestock with thirst?”

^13 (A)And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: ^(B)“I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; ^(C)the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. ¹⁴ Also your ^(D)descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad ^(E)to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and ^(F)in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. ¹⁵ Behold, ^(G)I am with you and will ^(H)keep^[a] you wherever you go, and will ^(I)bring you back to this land; for ^(J)I will not leave you ^(K)until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
