¹² I know that nothing is ^(A)better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives,

¹³ and also that ^(A)every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.

^22 (A)So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for ^(B)that is his ^[a]heritage. ^(C)For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, ^(A)“Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; ^(B)eat, drink, and be merry.” ’

³² If, in the manner of men, ^(A)I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, ^(B)“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

Instructions to the Rich

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain ^(A)riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things ^(B)to enjoy.
