⁴⁴ And all who believed were together and ^(A)had all things in common. ⁴⁵ And ^(B)they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.

³ Honor widows ^(A)who are truly widows. ⁴ But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn ^(B)to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for ^(C)this is pleasing in the sight of God. ⁵ She ^(D)who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and ^(E)continues in supplications and prayers night and day, ⁶ but ^(F)she who is self-indulgent is ^(G)dead even while she lives. ^7 (H)Command these things as well, so that they may be without reproach. ⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for ^(I)members of his household, he has ^(J)denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁹ Let a widow be enrolled if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been ^(K)the wife of one husband,^{[a] 10} and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has ^(L)shown hospitality, ^(M)has washed the feet of the saints, has ^(N)cared for the afflicted, and has ^(O)devoted herself to every good work. ¹¹ But refuse to enroll younger widows, for when ^(P)their passions draw them away from Christ, they desire to marry ¹² and so incur condemnation for having abandoned their former faith. ¹³ Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also ^(Q)gossips and ^(R)busybodies, saying what they should not. ¹⁴ So I would have ^(S)younger widows marry, bear children, ^(T)manage their households, and ^(U)give the adversary no occasion for slander. ^15 (V)For some have already strayed after Satan.

²⁷ Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: ^(A)to visit ^(B)orphans and widows in their affliction, and ^(C)to keep oneself ^(D)unstained from the world.

The Final Judgment

^31 (A)“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, ^(B)then he will sit on his glorious throne. ³² Before him ^(C)will be gathered ^(D)all the nations, and ^(E)he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates ^(F)the sheep from the goats. ³³ And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. ³⁴ Then ^(G)the King will say to ^(H)those on his right, ‘Come, you ^(I)who are blessed by my Father, ^(J)inherit ^(K)the kingdom ^(L)prepared for you ^(M)from the foundation of the world. ³⁵ For ^(N)I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you ^(O)gave me drink, ^(P)I was a stranger and you welcomed me, ^36 (Q)I was naked and you clothed me, ^(R)I was sick and you ^(S)visited me, ^(T)I was in prison and you came to me.’ ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? ³⁸ And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? ³⁹ And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ ⁴⁰ And ^(U)the King will answer them, ^(V)‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these ^(W)my brothers,^[a] you did it to me.’
