¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known ^(A)the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

^16 (B)All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, ^(C)and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for ^[a]instruction in righteousness, ^17 (D)that the man of God may be complete, ^(E)thoroughly equipped for every good work.

⁸ But even if ^(A)we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be ^[a]accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you ^(B)than what you have received, let him be accursed.

The Law Brings a Curse

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, ^(A)“Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

^16 (A)knowing that a man is not ^[a]justified by the works of the law but ^(B)by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not ^(C)by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Renewed Efforts to Stone Jesus

³¹ Then ^(A)the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. ³² Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”

³³ The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for ^(B)blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, ^(C)make Yourself God.”

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ^(D)‘I said, “You are gods” ’? ³⁵ If He called them gods, ^(E)to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture ^(F)cannot be broken),

⁶ Jesus said to him, “I am ^(A)the way, ^(B)the truth, and ^(C)the life. ^(D)No one comes to the Father ^(E)except through Me.

^21 (A)He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and ^[a]manifest Myself to him.”

^22 (B)Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, ^(C)and We will come to him and make Our home with him. ²⁴ He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and ^(D)the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

Their Conversion

¹³ For this reason we also thank God ^(A)without ceasing, because when you ^(B)received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it ^(C)not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively ^(D)works in you who believe.

^19 [a]And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a ^(A)light that shines in a dark place, ^(B)until ^(C)the day dawns and the morning star rises in your ^(D)hearts; ²⁰ knowing this first, that ^(E)no prophecy of Scripture is of any private ^[b]interpretation, ²¹ for ^(F)prophecy never came by the will of man, ^(G)but ^[c]holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
