Psalm 111 commemorates the first Passover, when God saved the firstborn of Israel from death. Lamb’s blood on the doorposts of the Israelite houses indicated to the destroyer to bypass that house (see Exodus 11–12). God’s salvation is to be remembered forever. His acts are enduring, and this psalm ensures that the story of his redeeming love reaches all who listen.
God sent Jesus, the Lamb of God, as a blood sacrifice to spare you the penalty of death. Praise him for being gracious and compassionate! Thank him that he is enduring. Your righteousness depends on him alone; his righteousness endures forever.
