Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary Definition of Truth:
Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.
The promise to Abram is one of the key prophecies in the entire Bible. First because it establishes an eternal covenant with God’s chosen people Israel. Second because believers in Jesus Christ have been given the same promise (Gal 3:14). The initial fulfillment was Israel’s great population growth while in Egypt. However, there is a literal fulfillment still yet to come when Jesus Christ returns to earth and Israel is freed from all her enemies.
