Moses' Last Words by Sheri Rose Shepherd
It is at the end of your life that you realize how the life you lived affected those you loved and your legacy. We often forget that this is not our home. I once heard a beautiful story about a couple who had invested their entire life in a 3rd world country. When they were at the end of their lives, they came home to retire in New York.
As they took a long boat ride towards their homeland, they happened to be on the same boat as the late president Roosevelt. As they docked, there was media and lots of smiling faces to greet the president and talk to him about a relaxing vacation he had taken. The husband looked at his wife with tears in his eyes and said, "I am so sorry I never took you on a vacation." Then he continued to say, "We spent our entire lives in a dirty and poor land and there is no one here to celebrate our return. His wife immediately hugged her husband and looked him in the eyes with a sweet smile and said, "I am not sorry we did not go on fancy vacations. And you are right, there is no one to celebrate our return because we are not home yet!"
They realized that their lives was not wasted working for The Lord. It was a life well lived that will forever be celebrated. Let's take a moment and reflect on what will really matter when we are finely home in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
God's Letter to You
I believe if The Lord was going to write you a personal letter about battles this life brings it may read like this....
My Beloved Child,
You begin and end with me!
You need not worry when your life will end, My precious child. All you need to know is that your first breath began with Me, and your last breath will lead you to My presence. Don’t ever let fear of death or eternity frighten you. Your todays and tomorrows are secure with Me, I have held them in My hand since the beginning of time. When you finish your brief time on earth and I call you into My presence, your forever life in heaven will begin. But for now, My chosen one, you must live free from fear. Instead, trust Me to take you through every trial that comes your way. Remember that nothing in the universe can separate us.
I am with you always... even until the end of time. So live well and finish strong—fixing your hope on the day that we will meet face-to-face on the other side of eternity.
Your Eternal King
Treasure of Truth
It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. — Revelation 21:6
