Frank Thielman::

Israel & The Nations: The History of Israel from the Exodus to the Fall of the Second Temple by F.F. Bruce
A classic guide to the historical background of both the Old and the New Testaments from an ancient historian of the first rank who was also an evangelical Christian.

New International Bible Commentary by F.F. Bruce, et al.
An old but reliable resource from fine evangelical scholars that provides sensible, thorough articles on how to understand the Bible and more detail than a study Bible on the text of the Bible itself.

New Dictionary of Biblical Theology by Brian S. Rosner, et al.
Clear, reliable articles from evangelical scholars showing the unity of the Bible’s approach to a variety of important biblical themes.

Letters to the Church: A Survey of Hebrews and the General Epistles by Karen H. Jobes.
Combines lively prose and scholarly depth to make the most neglected books in the New Testament come alive for the beginning student.

The Throne, the Lamb & the Dragon: A Reader’s Guide to the Book of Revelation by Paul Spilsbury.
A clear, theologically sound, and historically reliable introduction to the New Testament’s most misunderstood book.
