Easter is Coming! Journey to Easter with our Lent Devotions

easterblogheader

Easter is coming! It’s hard to believe, but the season of Lent—the 40-day stretch leading up to Easter Sunday—begins in just a few weeks. Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, arrives on February 10.

While not every Christian tradition observes Lent, many Christians use this stretch of time to renew their focus on Jesus Christ as a way of preparing for Easter. Some Christians might devote extra time to Bible reading during Lent, or abstain from a particular habit or activity as a way of removing distractions from their spiritual life.

At Bible Gateway, we love any excuse to spend more time with God’s Word, and have found committing to a devotional activity during Lent can be an immensely rewarding experience. To that end, we’ve prepared a set of encouraging, insightful devotional experiences to help you journey through Lent to Easter. You can sign up for them on our special Easter page.

This year’s Lent devotionals are:

  • Bible Gateway Lent Devotions — Our classic Lent devotional. A daily mix of Bible readings, quotes from famous Christian thinkers, reflections questions, and more. A varied and unique way to journey to Easter.
  • 40 Day Journey with Dietrich Bonhoeffer — This daily devotional journey, written by World War 2 pastor and martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer, will challenge you to ponder both the joy and the suffering that faith brings, and to set your heart on Christ alone. A longtime favorite of Bible Gateway visitors, brought back for Lent.
  • The Story of Jesus — Do you know the person, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ? This easy-to-read daily devotional walks through the major events in Jesus’ life, culminating at Easter—with notes to help you understand and reflect on what you’re reading.
  • You can sign up for any of these on our Easter page. We hope you find them a helpful part of your devotional reading during the Easter season. We’ll be talking more about Lent and Easter in the days and weeks to come, so keep an eye on the blog!
