To mark Ash Wednesday today, we asked author and speaker Sheri Rose Shepherd to share her thoughts on what Lent and Easter mean to her. Sheri graciously agreed to share her insights in this special video and devotional message.
Lent is an amazing season to give up whatever is getting more of our attention than God.
The question is not what will God give us… but what are we willing to give up so we can receive all that God has for us.
Can you imagine if we spent the next 40 days of Lent fasting off of something that is blocking a blessing in our lives?
Let’s embrace this season of lent and focus on more than giving up something for God.
Instead let’s savor getting more of God! Pray for Him to show you what He wants you to lay down so He can take you where He wants you to Go!
It is impossible to give up more than He can give you.
Take this next 40 days to draw close to the one, true God, who is waiting and willing to walk as close with you as you allow Him to! He gave up His life to give us a better life!
Your faith will soar when you look up to Me and let go of what you see in the natural world. Don’t you know by now that I will do the supernatural for you if you will allow Me to? You no longer have to be controlled by your circumstances; you can choose to live fueled by faith in Me, starting today. What you see on this earth may cause you to lose hope, but your trust in Me will free you from fear and doubt. Faith in me will give you the power to persevere with passion and purpose. I want you to learn that what I say and do can never be shaken or taken without your permission. Now breathe in My presence, My child, and choose to never again doubt in the darkness what you know to be true in the light of My truth.
Your Faithful Father
What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. — Hebrews 11:1
