Announcing the Common English Bible Verse of the Day!

The Common English Bible Verse of the Day is coming to Bible Gateway! On January 1 our popular Verse of the Day email will be available in the Common English Bible (CEB) translation. Sign up to receive the CEB Verse of the Day.

The Common English Bible is noted for it’s approachable language and ease of reading. Its translation team aimed to create a Bible translation that could be used by the entire English-speaking church. For an example of the CEB’s translation style, compare the language of John 3:16 in the CEB, NIV, and ESV:

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him won’t perish but will have eternal life. (CEB)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (NIV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (ESV)

We’re thrilled to partner with the Common English Bible to make this new Verse of the Day available. Sign up to receive the CEB Verse of the Day each day starting on January 1, 2012!
