2 Corinthians 5:2
Print
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed about with our house which is from Heaven,
For verily in this we groan, longing to be clothed upon with our habitation which is from heaven:
For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our [immortal, eternal] celestial dwelling,
Here indeed, in this [present abode, body], we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over [we yearn to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out] with our heavenly dwelling,
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
Indeed, we groan in this tent, desiring to put on our heavenly dwelling,
We groan while we live in this residence. We really want to dress ourselves with our building from heaven—
For in this tent, our earthly body, we groan with desire to have around us the home from heaven that will be ours.
While we are here on earth, we sigh because we want to live in that heavenly home.
For indeed in this we groan, ardently desiring to have put on our house which [is] from heaven;
For indeed in this tent we are groaning, yearning to put-on-over ourselves our dwelling from heaven—
For in this also we groan, desiring to be clothed upon with our habitation that is from heaven.
But now we are tired of this body. We want God to give us our heavenly home.
Now, while we are in our body here on earth, we cry inside ourselves. We want to go and live in our house that is in heaven.
In fact, the reason we groan is that we long to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven.
For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling,
For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling,
But now we ·groan [sigh] in this ·tent [or body; L one], longing to be clothed in our heavenly ·home [dwelling place],
For therefore we sigh, desiring to be clothed with our house, which is from heaven.
In our present tent-like existence we sigh, since we long to put on the house we will have in heaven.
And now we sigh, so great is our desire that our home which comes from heaven should be put on over us;
Indeed, we groan in this body, desiring to put on our dwelling from heaven,
But now we are tired of this body. We want God to give us our heavenly home.
For in this one we sigh, since we long to put on our heavenly dwelling.
We know, for instance, that if our earthly dwelling were taken down, like a tent, we have a permanent house in Heaven, made, not by man, but by God. In this present frame we sigh with deep longing for the heavenly house, for we do not want to face utter nakedness when death destroys our present dwelling—these bodies of ours. So long as we are clothed in this temporary dwelling we have a painful longing, not because we want just to get rid of these “clothes” but because we want to know the full cover of the permanent house that will be ours. We want our transitory life to be absorbed into the life that is eternal.
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven,
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
For indeed in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,
For indeed, in this house we groan, because we desire to put on our dwelling from heaven,
How weary we grow of our present bodies. That is why we look forward eagerly to the day when we shall have heavenly bodies that we shall put on like new clothes.
For instance, we know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made, not handmade—and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents” again. Sometimes we can hardly wait to move—and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we’re tired of it! We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less.
In this one we groan, earnestly desiring to be sheltered with our house which is from heaven.
For indeed in this tent we groan, longing to put on · our heavenly dwelling place, ·
In our present tent-like existence we sigh, since we long to put on the house we will have in heaven.
For in this tent we groan, longing to be further clothed with our heavenly habitation
For indeed, in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,
For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,
While we are in this earthly tent, we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling;
But now we groan in this tent. We want God to give us our heavenly home,
For in this earthly house we groan, because we desire to put on our heavenly dwelling,
During our time on earth we groan. We long to put on our house in heaven as if it were clothing.
Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,
Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,
Right now we cry inside ourselves because we wish we could have our new body which we will have in heaven.
We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.
And for this we sigh, desiring to be clothed with our dwelling which is from heaven –
For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling—
For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling—
For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling—
For in this tent we groan, longing to be further clothed with our heavenly dwelling,
At the present moment, you see, we are groaning, as we long to put on our heavenly building,
For indeed in this mishkaneinu we groan, longing for the train of our robe to be our sukkah from Shomayim. [Ro 8:23]
For therefore we sigh, desiring to be clothed with our house, which is from Heaven.
Here indeed we groan, and long to put on our heavenly dwelling,
Here indeed we groan, and long to put on our heavenly dwelling,
For in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling—
Currently, in this tent of a house, we continue to groan and ache with a deep desire to be sheltered in our permanent home
For most certainly in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,
While we are in the house we have now, we are always crying and wanting to have our house from heaven.
For why in this thing we mourn, coveting to be clothed above with our dwelling, which is of heaven;
for also in this we groan, with our dwelling that is from heaven earnestly desiring to clothe ourselves,
