Ps. 6 The psalm is an individual lament. As with many laments, the psalmist expresses his trust in the Lord at the end of the psalm. The occasion of the psalm appears to be a severe illness (vv. 2, 5). This psalm is one of seven “penitential psalms” (along with 32; 38; 51; 102; 130; 143).
