7:1–27 This chapter is made up of three, possibly independent, parts, linked by the common theme of adultery. The first (vv. 1–5) and third (vv. 24–27) are in the form of instructions, and both warn about involvement with the adulteress. The middle section (vv. 6–23) appears as a dramatic narrative that functions as an imaginative reinforcement of the instruction.
