4:24 Syria. In Roman usage, “Syria” applied to virtually the whole of Palestine with the exception of Galilee (cf. Luke 2:2). A Galilean would probably have understood “Syria” to refer to the territory just north of Galilee, from the Mediterranean to Damascus.
epileptics. The only other use of this word in the New Testament is in 17:15, where it is applied to a demon-possessed boy who is exhibiting symptoms of epileptic seizures.
