Mal 4:5

4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet. The literary connection of this verse with 3:1 indicates that “Elijah” is the same person as “my messenger.” Both verses begin with the word “Behold,” and use the same form of the verb “to send.” In both cases the mission is to bring repentance in advance of the coming day of the Lord. The New Testament identifies this “Elijah” as John the Baptist (Matt. 11:14; 17:10; Mark 9:11–13; Luke 1:17).
