Luke 4:21–27

4:21–27 By presenting the rejection at Nazareth at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, Luke highlights certain main characteristics of that ministry: (a) the response of wonder at His teachings coupled with persistent unbelief and rejection (vv. 22, 28); (b) His ministry as the fulfillment of Scripture (v. 21); (c) His concern for the poor and oppressed (vv. 18, 19); and (d) His ultimate aim of including Gentiles among the people of God (vv. 26, 27).
