25:39 If a man sold a son or a daughter into slavery because of debt, the servant was released after seven years (Ex. 21:2–11; Deut. 15:12–18). This text deals with an even worse debt where, presumably having sold his land, a man and his whole family were sold as slaves (v. 41). In this case they were released in the Year of Jubilee.
