Job 5:23

5:23 in league with the stones of the field. Attempts to explain such a league as merely figurative language do not satisfy the context. Some read this, “in league with the offspring of the field,” since the other side of the parallelism reads, “the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.” Since the wild animals often kill the domestic animals, this fits the entire context, for in v. 22 Eliphaz said that Job had no need to fear the beasts of the earth.
