Job 19

19:1–29 In ch. 19 Job accuses God of wronging him and not listening to his plea for justice (vv. 6, 7), of stripping him of honor and attacking him (vv. 9–12), and of alienating his kinsmen and friends (vv. 13–20). Job was wrong on all points. He was wrestling with God over the apparent meaninglessness of his suffering that was actually the work of the Adversary, but ordained by the Lord to accomplish a higher purpose. The counselors, on the other hand, had reduced God and His acts to an impersonal formula. They were incapable of empathy with the agony of Job’s predicament or of showing him any mercy.
