Gen 26:17–22

26:17–22 The wealthy Isaac retreated from the fertile land into the Valley of Gerar, depending on wells originally dug by Abraham (v. 18). None of the patriarchs rashly risked war for the Promised Land. They trusted God to give their descendants the land at the right time (15:13, 14). The names of the wells commemorate God’s provision and protection.
