13:1–18 Lot’s separation from Abraham alienated him from blessing. He turned his back on his uncle and ignored the dangers of Sodom. But “even as he thought he was living in heaven, he had already sunk almost into hell” (Calvin, Commentary on Gen. 13:10). In contrast to Lot, Abraham trusted God and by faith inherited “all the land . . . forever” (v. 15) and “offspring as the dust” (v. 16).
