Gen 12:1–9

12:1–9 Abraham’s call as an agent of redemptive grace parallels Noah’s as the mediator of a covenant to all creation (8:1–12:9 note). The form of God’s call to Abraham also resembles His pattern in creation (1:3–31 note): announcement, command (v. 1), and report (vv. 4–9), but the pattern is broken by the divine promise (vv. 2–3), highlighting Abraham’s faith and believing obedience (vv. 4–9; cf. 22:1–19; Rom. 4:3; Heb. 11:8–12).
