Gen 10:16

10:16 Jebusites. One of the Canaanite nations dispossessed by Israel. Their city was Jerusalem, which was finally conquered by David (2 Sam. 5:6–9).

Amorites. The Old Testament uses the term loosely, sometimes referring to the pagan inhabitants of Palestine in general (15:16; Josh. 10:5) and sometimes to the people of the Palestinian hill country (Num. 13:29). Some of the most famous dynasties of Babylon, including that of Hammurabi, came from this Western Semitic group.

Girgashites. See 15:21; Deut. 7:1 note; Josh. 3:10.
