47:13 Joseph shall have two portions. In Ezekiel’s vision the land would be divided equally among the twelve tribes. Since the tribe of Levi received its territorial inheritance inside the sacred precincts of Jerusalem (45:1–8 note), the number twelve was maintained by substituting for Joseph the two sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:1–6).
