46:16–18 In redeeming Israel from Egypt and later Babylon, God removed them from the place of bondage, but also secured for them an inheritance in their own land. The land was supposed to be inalienable (Lev. 25:14–17, 23, 24; 1 Kin. 21), representing the permanence of the redemption and inheritance that God had provided (1 Pet. 1:4).
