Ezek 37:24

37:24 king. Ezekiel is reluctant to use the word “king” in reference to any of the historical rulers of Jerusalem, preferring instead to call them “prince” (v. 25; 12:10, 12; 19:1; 21:12, 25; 22:6; 34:24). Here, however, he describes the future Davidic ruler as “king” (v. 22, 24), possibly a subtle way of distinguishing this future ruler from the others. The New Testament reveals that this shepherd-king is Jesus (34:2–10, 23 and notes), who reigns over the renewed people of God forever (v. 25; 34:31; John 10:11, 14; Matt. 2:2; Acts 5:31).
