33:21 year. Jerusalem was destroyed by fire in the fifth month of the eleventh year of Jehoiachin’s rule (2 Kin. 25:8–10; Jer. 52:12–14). If news did not reach the exiles until the twelfth year, tenth month, it took over a year and a half for the news to travel a distance covered by Ezra in four months (Ezra 7:9). A few Hebrew texts and one ancient translation of the Bible read “eleventh” year instead of “twelfth”; the difference is only one letter in Hebrew, and “twelfth” could be the mistake of a copyist.
