Ex 6:14–27

6:14–27 In this transitional section, Moses and Aaron are formally identified, and the story of their work is reviewed and resumed in preparation for the description of the ten plagues. The formal identification is accomplished through a genealogy that begins with Reuben, Israel’s oldest son, then proceeds to Simeon, the second son, and finally to Levi. Levi’s genealogy establishes the link to Moses and Aaron. Among the Levites Amram is singled out, then Aaron and Moses. The subsequent names constitute the priestly line for Israel (Num. 25:10–13; 26:57–62). For Korah, see Num. 16:1–35.
