12:2–7 Solomon comments on aging and death, using the extended metaphor of a house that is falling down. He contrasts the deterioration of the house with the permanence of nature. It is best to take the metaphors here for their overall effect, rather than speculate on the meaning of each individual figure. As the following notes indicate, some associations are clearer than others.
