11:9 But Uriah . . . did not go down to his house. Despite David’s efforts, Uriah does not do what he considers wrong. It is not impossible that Uriah knew about David’s relationship with Bathseba (perhaps from the messengers of v. 4), but this is unlikely in view of his willingness to carry a letter from David to Joab (v. 14). Uriah explains his abstinence in v. 11.
